Our annual Christmas party, thanks to kind people in the United States

Every Christmas since 2007, Zambia Hope children have received a lot of joy from the good people of Frederick, Maryland and Gainesville, Florida who send them greetings cards and presents for the season.

Although Christmas cards first came from caring people in Frederick, for the past two years, senior members of the Turkey Creek Community in Gainesville have worked together to give the children something to remember Christmas by.

Before, many of the children were just spectators to the merriment, with a void in their hearts, but now they are very much a part of the fun that most children and adults have during this period, thanks to this gesture of goodwill.

The children are happy that people so far away are thinking about them as each of them receives a personalized card, handwritten by generous people.

Last year, the Turkey Creek Community seniors, coordinated by Gwen Rogers, wrote out Christmas greeting cards in each child's name. The children were from Hope Nursery School, Mutakwa Basic School, Micky Joy Elementary School, Dolly Dollar Christian School and Kaunda Square Basic School. Other than Mutakwa and Hope, these are all private schools organized by local parents to fill the lack of local places to study.

Every Christmas and New Year the children can now look forward with hope and joyful anticipation.

These generous donations in cash and kind were channeled through Hope Mountain Foundation and sent to the children via Zambia Hope International.
